I teach a proven, successful healthy curls methodology and it is all designed so that every client who sits in my chair is able to leave the lifetime of frustration with their hair behind them the moment they meet me.
The Learn, Cut & Treat appointment is where you learn how your curls work. I want you to know if you do this to your curls, this happens. If you want to avoid this, do this thing instead. The Pre-Visit
What to Expect Before Your Appointment
You'll receive two emails that will confirm your appointment, give you all the details on what to expect, explain how to prepare your hair for the appointment, give directions where to go and a link to an optional form that invites you to tell me all about your hair. This gives me the chance to personalize your session from the very start.
Then, 48 hours before your appointment, you’ll get a reminder text — a friendly heads-up that also gives you a 12-hour window before my 36-hour cancellation policy takes effect.
Every step is designed to make you feel informed, comfortable, and excited for what’s ahead.
Once you arrive to your first appointment, we’ll start by getting personal — with your curls, that is.
I want to hear everything: your hair history, your current routine, what’s frustrating you most, and what you’re hoping to achieve — not just today, but long-term. This is your space to ask anything you’ve ever wondered about curls, even if it’s just something you’re curious about.
Then, we dive deep into product education. I’ll teach you how to read ingredients lists like a pro — what to look for, what to avoid, how to identify pH levels, and what different ingredients actually do to curly hair. You’ll learn what each type of styling product is designed for and how to choose and use them to meet your unique hair goals.
Together, we’ll reframe the way you think about wash day, and I’ll guide you toward a new routine that makes sense for your life — practical, intentional, and empowering.

Once we’ve mapped out your curl goals, we get to the fun part — the transformation.
We’ll talk in detail about your haircut: the shape, volume, length, and what you’re hoping to grow into over time. I typically cut dry to follow your curl pattern, but sometimes a combination of wet and dry cutting gives the best result — we’ll do what’s right for your hair.
When we move to the shampoo bowl, it’s not just a wash — it’s a hands-on lesson. I’ll show you exactly how I want you to care for your curls at home: how to shampoo, how to condition, and how to set yourself up for styling success.
Back at the chair, I’ll walk you through using the products we chose together — including application, techniques, and the key habits that make all the difference. I’ll also show you how to diffuse your curls for lasting definition and how to set your hair in a way that helps you go multiple days without needing a bun or ponytail.
Before you walk out the door, we’ll make sure you’re fully set up for success at home. You’ll leave with all the knowledge, product recommendations, tools and techniques we covered — no guesswork required.
We’ll take a few photos to celebrate your beautiful curls and the transformation you’ve made, and we’ll schedule any follow-up appointments to keep your momentum going.
Most importantly, I’ll show you how to access the Curl Lounge — your personal support hub. It’s packed with resources to help you revisit what you learned, troubleshoot anything new, ask Lori a question 24/7, and stay confident in your routine between appointments.
