Transitioning to grey hair doesn’t have to mean harsh grow-out lines, constant coloring, or compromising your curls. At Uninhibited Curls, my Grey Blending service offers a gentle, curl-friendly way to embrace your natural color—on your own terms.
Why Traditional Highlighting Isn’t Ideal for Curls
Most grey blending services rely on highlighting and toning to match a silver shade. While this can look pretty at first, it often fades to yellow and requires frequent upkeep. Highlighting also blows open the cuticle, which makes it harder for curls to hold water—leading to dryness, frizz, and loss of definition.
The Uninhibited Curls Method: Matching the Pepper
Instead of lightening, I match the “pepper” in your natural color. Grey hair is naturally hollow, so I use gentle lowlights to fill the cuticle rather than lifting it. This keeps the cuticle smooth, allowing your curls to stay hydrated and resilient. The result is softer, more manageable hair with a natural blend of grey and color.
Benefits of Grey Blending
Healthier curls that retain moisture and definition
Longer appointment spacing (8–12 weeks instead of 3–5)
A softer grow-out line with no harsh demarcation
A custom approach—you can keep as much or as little grey as you like
Your Transition, Your Pace
Whether you’re moving away from full coverage or just want to soften a strong grey pattern around your face, we can start with a heavier lowlight and gradually let more grey shine through. You can stop at any point—or stay with the blended look forever.
Grey blending is about freedom—freedom from constant color maintenance and freedom to love your natural beauty.
